Heavy Duty Camping Directors Chair with Attached Side Table
February 4, 2024 - Most people who think of a directors chair think of movie directors. But, these simple folding seats have a story more colorful than you might think. Even though the chair's history goes back thousands of years, the modern day directors chair did not make its debut in America until 1892.
That directors chair was designed by the Gold Medal furniture company and was an instant hit, winning an award for excellence at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.
To this day Gold Medal is producing and selling their award-winning directors chair which has a canvas back and seat, contoured legs and shaped arm rests.
Today, many other companies have emulated the Gold Medal directors chair design and now this type chair is sold by many different manufacturing companies both online and in stores.
The uses for this chair have also changed. Artists, Face Painters,
Campers, RV Travelers, Teachers and Trade Show vendors have come to love these director type chairs because of their comfort and convenience.
